The turbocharged 164ci flat-six is said to have been rebuilt with HiTech pistons, moly rings, and standard-sized Clevite bearings. Cylinder heads were sourced from a 95-horsepower model and modified by Ken Hand. The turbocharger was reassembled with an “f-flow” compressor side and “b-flow” exhaust side in an effort to provide faster spool-up. A Safeguard knock control system, an electric fuel pump with a Revolution Electronics controller, and a Holley fuel pressure regulator have been added. Induction is from a factory carburetor rebuilt with Black Hawk metering rods and jets, and a ceramic-coated exhaust system is installed.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a rebuilt 4-speed manual transmission and a later 9-bolt differential with 3.55:1 gears and Positraction, which was modified to fit into the factory case. The undercarriage was coated with red paint intended to replicate factory primer, and the wheel wells were undercoated.
