This Fairlane 500 Galaxie two-door hardtop is top-shelf – good looks and solid performance. It received a partial exterior restoration and the mechanicals have been thoroughly vetted. The body received a 2-stage re-spray of April Green/Colonial White, and paired with the ‘Thunderbird’ roofline, is stunning. New steel wheels, full hubcaps, 15″ Coker American Classic wide-white radials and chrome fender skirts provide perfect accents. The grill and bumpers are also excellent as is most of the strainless trim. The original interior is in overall very good condition. Seats are upholstered in Radiant Green/White vinyl and look quite nice at age 60. All of the individual components are very sharp, including the dashboard, headliner, carpeting and door panels. The Galaxie is powered by the first generation ‘FE’ (Ford/Edsel) V8 with a displacement of 332ci. During the rebuild process, the intake was converted to a Ford 4V and an Edelbrock 600cfm carburetor was installed. Behind the FE, the three-speed automatic transmission delivers torque to the stock rear differential with 2.91:1 gearing. Power drum brakes are now fitted with a dual master cylinder.
