This 1938 Ford pickup was built over several years. Work included refinishing the body in red, re-trimming the interior in tan leather, and installing a GM 229ci V6 and TH350 three-speed automatic transmission. Additional modifications include chrome 15″ wire wheels, front disc brakes, a Holley carburetor, PPG Sungate glass, an oak bed floor, Vintage Air climate control, electric windows, a tilt steering column, a banjo-style steering wheel, Dakota Digital instrumentation, and a Valor touchscreen head unit.
The refurbishment was begun in the 2000s and completed around 2015, during which time the steel bodywork was refinished. PPG Sungate glass was also installed. Additional Exterior details include tri-bar headlights, a single windshield wiper, PPG Sungate glass, and a side exit exhaust system.
Chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels feature simulated three-eared knock-offs and are mounted with 215/70 Goodyear Assurance tires. The truck is equipped with power steering, and the suspension has been lowered and a front sway bar fitted. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums.
Removing the red vinyl tonneau cover reveals an oak-plank bed floor with body-color trim strips.
The cabin has been overhauled and features a bench seat trimmed in Cashmere brown leather with “V8” embroidery, along with a matching headliner, lower dashboard, and door and trim panels. Sheetmetal surfaces are finished in red and appointments include a banjo-style steering wheel, a tilt steering column, Vintage Air heating and air conditioning, electric windows, and a Valor touchscreen stereo with a hands-free controller.
Dakota Digital instrumentation includes readouts for vehicle speed, engine RPM, voltage, oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel level. The odometer in the replacement speedometer has been reset several times. Total mileage is unknown.
The truck is powered by a GM 229ci V6 that is equipped with a Holley carburetor, aluminum Holley valve covers, and a chrome air cleaner.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a TH350 three-speed automatic transmission and a 10-bolt rear end with 3.73:1 gears and a chrome differential cover.
